Demonstration Watersheds

WRAMP image

Two demonstration watersheds in the Lake Tahoe Basin have been selected for the Tahoe WRAMP pilot project: Upper Truckee River and Third Creek. These two watersheds were selected for their relatively large size, ease of access, abundant watershed information including restoration projects, stakeholder support, and state representation (one each in California and Nevada).

For each demonstration watershed, aquatic resource base maps will be produced to assess the distribution, abundance, and size of wetlands, streams, and other aquatic habitats within the watershed. The riverine module of the California Rapid Assessment Method (CRAM) will then be used to assess approximately thirty sites within each watershed for aquatic health and condition, resulting in CRAM scores that may be used to compare the health of watersheds within Tahoe Basin and across California.
